A bit of fun...

Love them or loathe them, Internet memes are everywhere; captions applied to unrelated pictures with intention to provoke amusement. I thought I'd give this a go in relation to the world of indie writing. (This idea is in no way a means of distraction from my own writing.) There's so much scope for humour in this field, mainly owing to the frustrations indie authors and their readers experience! To avoid issues with copyright, all photographs (bar one) are from my own photo albums. I hope this blog post tickles you and brightens your day.

Readers tend not to like books that finish with 16 blurbs, the first three chapters of your next book and photos from your niece's christening.

I'm sure we've all read books where punctuation isn't the author's strong suit...

Funny though it may be, this is probably true for most indie authors! It is not a get-rich-quick profession!

There's always one formatting issue that drives you to tear your hair out. But once you solve it...

Hands up who smiles when they see an email asking for updated tax information...

Some reviewers' thinking is a mystery...

Badly written, overpriced short stories are partly to blame for the reputation that we indie authors sometimes get. We are not all like this! (Thanks to Kath Middleton for the image.)

Who hasn't been tempted to plaster their books with 'No. 1 Bestseller'?

Loved it! My first book is a bestseller in a category like that. There's only one book in it: mine. So every time anyone buys one it's a number one bestseller Mwah hahahrgh!

Cheers

How true! With all the frustrations of being an indie writer, getting great reviews and still * * * You found a very creative angle with which to laugh! Maybe this is the answer to the question, "What do you do for writer's block?"

My first book is *nearly* a bestseller in a category like that...
